Benchmark Recommends SpeakON® Connectors

The Benchmark AHB2 power amplifier and the Benchmark SMS1 speakers are equipped with SpeakON connectors. These products also have binding posts, but we highly recommend using the SpeakON connectors.

When conducting THD tests on the AHB2 power amplifier, we found that binding posts and associated wire terminations often created measurable distortion while the SpeakON® connectors provided consistent distortion-free results.

Neutrik® SpeakON® Connectors

Neutrik® SpeakON® connectors are the industry-standard for demanding professional applications. These high-current loudspeaker connectors offer extremely reliable and robust connections and include a reliable locking system. They feature solid contacts with screw-type terminals that include a sleeve to provided protection where the screw contacts stranded speaker wires. The terminals also offer solder termination. The NL2FXX is an updated and improved version of the NL2FX. The NL4FXX is an updated and improved version of the NL4FX.

NL2 or NL4?

NL2 connectors have 2 contacts and are recommended for cables with two conductors. These plugs fit NL2 or NL4 jacks.

NL4 connectors have 4 contacts and are recommended for cables with four conductors. These plugs will only fit NL4 jacks.

Note: Either type of plug may be used with the Benchmark AHB2 power amplifier and the Benchmark SMS1 speakers. These Benchmark products are equipped with NL4 jacks.

We recommend the NL2 connectors for most applications. Order the NL4 connectors if you are building a 4-pole cable.
