Benchmark Remote Control

Benchmark's IR remote control features a die cast aluminum frame. This remote is compatible with the DAC1 HDR and with the entire family of DAC2 and DAC3 converters. It is also compatible with the HPA4 and LA4.The unit is designed for comfort, ease of use, and durability.

Includes battery.

Note: This unit is compatible with early DAC1 HDR converters that shipped with a plastic remote, but the dedicated input select buttons will not work with these early units. These early DAC1 HDR converters can be factory upgraded to add this feature.

This replacement part is imported.

Batteries are not shipped to France.

Features

Dedicated Dim Button

The remote includes a -20 dB 'DIM' button. This button reduces the output volume by 20 dB on most Benchmark products. The 'DIM' function allows toggling between normal listening levels and background levels, without changing the volume control settings. The 'DIM' function is also ideal for HDTV users, as it allows toggling to reduced volumes during commercials.

Separate 'On' and 'Off' Buttons

Separate 'ON' and 'OFF buttons allow unambiguous programming of universal remote systems. Dedicated input select buttons allow direct access to input sources.

Typical Benchmark Quality

"I love Benchmark. They stand behind their products like no other company I’ve dealt with. I didn’t have to resort to eBay or go grey market to find something that might work. It was in stock on the web site at a reasonable price and arrived just a few days after I ordered. The remote is not just a piece of plastic like my others are. The buttons aren’t crowded, respond to a light touch and the thing just fits in your hand."

remote battery cover issue

"The remote itself is excellent, but there is a serious problem of lack of information about how to access the battery. There is a small tab on the underside of the remote, but it does not release the cover. There is a tiny screw in the middle of the underside that does, but you need a very small Phillips screwdriver to remove it- otherwise, no way to remove the battery cover. There should be some indication of this when the remote is sent out, otherwise it is useless without a battery."

The new remote has a

"The new remote has a slimmer profile thanks to the improved battery compartment. The buttons have a more responsive feel as well. It has a nice solid feel in the hand."

Great quality

"I’ve had the DAC1 for many years. I had been using my streamer as volume control. After I purchased this remote, I was able to use the DAC to control volume. It has greatly improved, the sound quality in my system. The remote works great and fits nicely in the hand. Sorry, I waited so long to order it."

This product is well worth

"This product is well worth the investment. $100 for a remote control? Worth it! I have one of the old DAC1s. I had been using my streamer as a volume control. Now that I’m leaving that fixed and using the DAC to control the volume, the quality of the sound is night and day. Cannot recommend enough if you’re using your streamer to control the volume don’t! I’m running a pair of older Vandersteen speakers, I’m not sure if I would’ve replaced them if I hadn’t known they could’ve sounded this good."

First one I purchased worked

"First one I purchased worked less and less well in spite of new batteries and stopped working - I had to purchase another one…."

Razvan P. (3/5)

Works fine. Not as nice

"Works fine. Not as nice as the one that came with my DAC3 several years ago because it has more plastic and less metal. Way overpriced - for example I’ve got a nicer remote included with a $500 integrated amp I bought for my garage. Bottom line: I’m a huge Benchmark fan (DAC, amp, cables) and this product is the first I’m disappointed in. That said it’s fine and since I somehow lost the one I’ve been using for many years it’s good to have a replacement."

"Received quickly after ordering. Using to control an LA4. Works well. I’ve used Benchmark products before and the remotes have all worked flawlessly."

Solid Remote. I don't know

"Solid Remote. I don't know why people are saying they had issues. I've had mine since for many years and it works very reliably"

Better “feel without looking” than

"Better “feel without looking” than the old membrane remote in spite of its new plastic enclosure. My new remote came with an intermittent battery contact issue. The positive voltage (outer edge of the battery) did not make a reliable contact with the small contact pin in the remote. Assuming battery tolerances, I tried three different manufacturers to no avail). Finally, I made a very small shim out of slightly heavier paper stock that presses the contact pin in the battery well more firmly against the periphery of the battery. That did it.I did not expect that kind of simple problem from a Benchmark product."
