Visit Benchmark Media Systems in room 322 & the lobby-level Lakeshore Ballroom B at AXPONA and Audio Con, North America's Premier Event for Audiophiles and Music Lovers, April 24 - 26, 2015. We can't wait to see you there!
Don't miss this very special demonstration! This demonstration alone will justify a trip to the Axpona show!
Benchmark has partnered with AIX records, Oppo Digital, Harman, JVC, Dolby, and DH labs to create a very special high-resolution 5.1 surround demonstration. All components were selected based upon their ability to deliver true high-resolution performance. There are no weak links in this signal chain! Each component has been selected based upon its industry-leading performance.
High-resolution music and HDTV will be delivered with bit-transparent precision from a PC-based 5.1 music server running JRiver Media Server software. A second music and video source is a specially-modified Oppo DBP-105 with an all-digital bit-transparent 5.1 digital output. These 24-bit 96-kHz 5.1 digital sources feed 3 Benchmark DAC2 DX converters. These converters provide industry-leading transparency and accuracy while delivering high-level balanced outputs to a set of 5 Benchmark AHB2 power amplifiers. The AHB2 amplifiers will be running in a bridged-mono configuration, delivering 480 Watts into 6 Ohms. The AHB2 is the quietest, lowest distortion power amplifier available at any price. The AHB2 delivers a 135 dB SNR, and is virtually distortion free due to its patented THX AAA feed-forward error correction system. The five AHB2 amplifiers are each driving a Revel Salon 2 loudspeaker. These outstanding loudspeakers have an exceptionally flat frequency response that extends from 23 Hz to 45 kHz. These speakers have been selected for their accuracy, detail, and musicality. The system will also include two Revel B112 subwoofers. Top-quality cables are provided by DH labs. All analog interconnects use high-level balanced feeds.
HD video will be projected on a Stewart Filmscreen using JVC's newest 4K upsampling projector. Signal sources include Blu-ray disks with lossless Dolby TrueHD 96-kHz 24-bit 5.1 audio encoding. Most audio selections will include HD video.
The equipment list may be impressive, but this experience will be much more than a demonstration of the finest playback equipment. We have applied the same attention to the selection of each component in the recording chain. AIX Records will be providing high-resolution audio recordings with high-definition video. Each recording was produced and engineered by Mark Waldrep of AIX Records. The recording chain featured wide-bandwidth microphones and preamplifiers feeding Benchmark high-resolution A/D converters. Each musical selection will demonstrate state-of-the-art high-resolution audio recording techniques. From microphone to loudspeaker, every component delivers true high-resolution performance.
In each musical selection, Mark Waldrep has taken a purist approach and has used little or no processing. These recordings focus on delivering a natural sound with the full dynamics of the live performance.
Many of the recordings feature a "stage-mix" surround perspective that places the listener in the middle of the performers. Traditional "audience-mix" surround perspectives will also be demonstrated.
Overall, we believe that this will be the highest quality surround demonstration to date. Don't miss the opportunity to immerse yourself in this musical experience.
Mark Waldrep from AIX and John Siau from Benchmark will be on hand to meet you and answer your questions.
Rory Rall and David MacPherson will be demonstrating the complete Benchmark system in room 322. This system will feature the Benchmark DAC2 HGC (D/A converter and preamplifier), AHB2 (power amplifier), and SMS1 (loudspeakers). Experience the natural lifelike musicality of the Benchmark system.
All visitors to room 322 will be eligible to win a Benchmark DAC1 HDR with remote control ($1295 value). Fill out an entry form or drop your business card for a chance to win. You do not need to be present to win. Winning name will be drawn after the show closes.
Don't miss our live stream direct from the show on Friday April 24 at 3:30 Chicago time. John Siau will be discussing the new Benchmark AHB2 power amplifier.

"Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." - John 15:13
On the evening of July 17, 2022, my oldest son David Paul Siau gave the ultimate sacrifice of love when he knowingly gave his life to save those he loved. He took three shots from a 12 gauge shotgun so that his wife, children and sister could be spared.
David is survived by his wife Christy Siau and their two oldest children, ages 6 and 3. His 18-month old daughter McKenzie was killed within moments of David. I have no doubt that David and McKenzie entered into God’s glory hand in hand.
My daughter-in-law Christy Siau was shot and nearly killed in the incident. We are grateful that she is now out of the hospital making a full recovery.
In the end, my daughter Christina Siau fought the attacker with a knife and prevailed. She sustained many knife injuries and it is a miracle that she lived. She is now out of the hospital and making a full recovery.
We ask your prayers for the healing of physical and emotional scars. We have been overwhelmed by the love people have shown to our family during this difficult time.
